At 33.5 metres, the lighthouse is the largest construction on mainland Victoria, featuring holophotal, dioptric and catadioptric lens systems. The lighthouse guided sailors from Melbourne along Port Phillip Bay for many years and is now on the Victorian Historic Buildings Register.
